Zayed Sustainability Prize

Global High School Finalist

By bringing together more than 38,000 people from 175 countries, representing a diversity of cultures, outlooks and backgrounds, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2019 is reinforcing the UAE’s international standing as a beacon of tolerance.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize, an evolution of Zayed Future Energy Prize, is a global award inspired by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bun Sultan Al Nahyan.  The prize recognizes impactful, innovative, and inspirational sustainability solutions across five categories – Health, Food, Energy, Water and Global High Schools.

In the Global High School category, out of 2000 schools all over the world, our school came in the three finalists in the Middle East and North African region, along with American School of Dubai and British International School, Riyadh.  Eight of our students accompanied by two teachers participated in the Award Ceremony which included representatives from six regions of the world.  Our project, which aimed at revolutionising hydroelectricity to serve and to inspire and empower future generations, and also to challenge the norms to find solutions, was selected as one of the top three projects.

The Ceremony was graced with the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
