American School of Dubai Supports Artificial Reef

Natural coral reefs are very important as they provide habitats for marine animals and protect coastlines during storms, but unfortunately due to human activity many of them are dying.

To help with this problem, High Tide, an ocean advocacy service club at the American School of Dubai, sponsored the construction of an artificial coral reef out in Fujairah. It is made of metal rebar and baby coral that will grow into a full coral structure. The reef will live for at least ten to fifteen years and hopefully longer as long as we keep taking care of our oceans by reducing plastic waste, wearing reef friendly sunscreen, and much more.
