Abu Dhabi Youth Accepted To Roots & Shoots
US National Youth Leadership Council

This month, Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute’s global environmental and humanitarian youth programme announced the new class of members accepted to the 2017 US National Youth Leadership Council. Among those appointed was Morgan Pitman a member of the local Abu Dhabi Community.

Morgan is a student at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi. Morgan works closely with the US NGO, Haiti Sees, in order to raise money for children’s healthcare in impoverished communities in Haiti. Her leadership has shown through her work with the Elementary and Middle School Student Governments at her school. She is an active member of her school’s Roots and Shoots Club, as well as the Human Rights Club.

Throughout the year ahead, Morgan and the members of the Council will participate in comprehensive skills training with Roots and Shoots staff and field experts and they will represent the Jane Goodall Institute as youth mentors and experts in the US and around the world.

Tara Golshan, Executive Director for Education at The Jane Goodall Institute says “It’s fantastic news that Morgan has been selected from Abu Dhabi to represent the R&S programme at our Leadership Council in the United States.  It demonstrates the talent and resourcefulness of our young members in the Middle East, who now have the opportunity to share their projects and campaigns on a global platform.”

The new group of Council members join dozens of other Roots and Shoots leaders who have been a part of the Council since its inception in 2003. For more than a decade, the Roots and Shoots youth leadership programme has provided Council members with amazing opportunities that have paved their way to incredible university academic experiences and successful careers as change-makers and community leaders.
